Suggested actions
Optimise energy savings during use
- set automatic defaults for idle, sleep, and hibernate modes based on time and day
- use automated power management tools, such as smart plugs
- revert to default power settings at end of user session
- reduce screen brightness and increase contrast
- remove active screen savers
Avoid using energy when not in use
- switch off and unplug devices when not in use
- disable USB and internal drives when not using
- make sure staff last to leave unplug appropriate devices
- disable wifi when not in use
- disconnect power when laptop is fully charged
Encourage behaviour change
- put power sockets on desks
- monitor and feed back to staff who have left devices plugged in
- use in-device tools for staff to see their power usage
