Description
A print reduction strategy has been created and applied. Focus includes changing behaviours, centralising and monitoring printing, and optimising print settings.
Suggested actions
- use intranet and internet as first point of publication
- set up communication prompts asking staff if they need to print
- conduct an audit to establish:
- number of devices
- print volumes and activities
- estimated energy consumption
- toner cartridge and maintenance costs
- if the number of printers matches current demand
- provide network print facilities where appropriate and remove local, single-user print devices
- investigate use of a single print management solution to set device defaults, such as duplex and black and white printing
- train staff to fix jams and replace toner
- ensure equipment is regularly cleaned and maintained
- set up fax machines to scan to email
