At our building bilingual services community of practice this week, we welcomed Monica Maya-Martinez (delivery manager, Government Shared Services - Platforms & Services, Cabinet Office) who discussed the approach her team used to implement a Welsh version of Civil Service Jobs. Since 22 June 2022, Civil Service recruiters and vacancy holders now have the option to provide a Welsh version of their job advert, and candidates can apply for roles and choose to receive alerts in Welsh.
Our monthly comms show and tell was delivered this week, with three new permanent members of the comms team getting their first taste of the action. A show and tell is our opportunity to share knowledge and best practice with the CDPS delivery and operational team, including any new insights and findings we’ve encountered along the way. We also took a deeper dive into the Welsh Language Standards and what we need to do to comply from a comms point of view. This was brought to life with an interactive quiz which we ran on menti.com.
Overall, a big success, with plans already in place for the next one which will be focussed on video production (as voted for by people who matter most, our consumers!)
Gemma has taken on the role of internal comms now that we have a larger, permanent team. Internal comms, arguably, is as important as external comms, especially as a fully virtual organisation. A mammoth task lies ahead as we put new processes in place to ensure staff are aware of the important things such as policy updates and announcements but also the challenge of building a flourishing culture.
Gemma popped along to a senior leadership team meeting this week to hear their thoughts on new policies that are about to be launched and possible approaches she could take in informing staff.
