Blog posts: ‘use-ful’ definitions

This week we published ‘What is a ‘user?’, a blog post where we ask whether the term ‘end-user’ has had its day. Tell us who you think constitutes a user by commenting on the blog post or with a message on social media.

In another post, the Tech Net Zero discovery team described their first steps: defining the problem they’re trying to solve. As part of that exercise, they’re keen to talk to IT leaders and managers who are already grappling with energy-conservation issues. If you fit into that category and are interested in helping CDPS with our research, please drop us an email or direct message us on Twitter.

Join our comms team!

The CDPS comms team is all about communicating in a different way – we use Agile, iterative methods, in line with the principles of CDPS itself. (Find our more in our Communicating Digital community of practice sessions.) We are currently recruiting a communications manager and a visual designer to join the team. We will be announcing more posts in the coming weeks so keep an eye on our vacancies page.

Accessibility webinar: content for everyone

This week we held a knowledge sharing webinar on digital accessibility. We were joined by Amanda Diamond and Richard Morton from Central Digital and Data Office, Emma Willis, content designer at Welsh Local Government Association, and Dewi Smith, project manager for Digital Communities Wales.

Around 88 people tuned in, with lots of great questions about bilingual alt text and accessible documents of various kinds. Watch the recording or read the highlights on our Twitter thread.

The panel shared lots of useful links about creating accessible documents:
