Blog posts: digging deep into design

This week we published a blog post from Adam Ellison, of the Natural Resources Wales team, discussing the role of the interaction designer and how design fits into the discovery process.

We have lots of blog posts in the pipeline over the next couple of weeks, including one from our digital inclusion mapping team about the ‘digital divide’ in Wales and what organisations are doing to bridge it.

Web copy refresh: delivery mode

The tone and content of the copy on the CDPS website needs to keep pace with the development of CDPS itself. When CDPS launched, about 2 years ago, our website content was largely about what we were planning to do to help the Welsh public sector become user-centred and ‘digital first’.

Now, with our digital squads busy working with Welsh organisations to develop a whole range of services, and our digital training in full swing, CDPS is very much in delivery mode. Web content needs to reflect that shift. We’ve already published progress reports for all the services and other projects we’re working on. We’ve now also drafted fresh, plain English copy for the rest of the site. Once the copy has been through the 2i process (a kind of user-centred proofreading), it will soon be ready to publish.

CDPS courses: ‘super-interesting’

This week we have been targeting our comms at people to sign up for CDPS’s Agile and user-centred training. We’ve been sending course information to comms officers in organisations that would benefit from the training, emailing previous course attendees to let them know of suitable courses and tagging relevant organisations to social media posts.

We’ve also been working with course trainers to create short videos explaining what the training involves:

Next week sees the start of a series of ‘Good Design’ courses run by ex-head of design for the UK government Lou Downe. The courses cover every aspect of service design.

Spaces are still available on ‘Making the Case for Service Design’, a one day course on 29 March. Book here. See all CDPS courses.

Here’s some participant feedback on the training from the past few days:
