Welcome Simon - our new content designer
We welcomed Simon to the team and he’s already making a big impact!
A little bit about him:
“I’ve been kicking around government content design for a while. Before landing at CDPS, I spent three hectic but rewarding months on the NHS COVID Pass service (and am looking with interest at the NHS Wales app). Before that, I held senior content roles at Defra (trying to make Brexit less confusing to farmers and the like), DWP (trying to humanise social welfare) and the Passport Office (unravelling some truly Byzantine intranet content that would have done Humphrey Appleby proud). Very pleased now to be learning more about the Welsh digital landscape and to help users to navigate it more intuitively.”
Engagement
A busy week for engagement with a webinar and community of practice.
Knowledge sharing webinar attracted 31 people. Focussing on using data to make decisions, we heard from speakers from NHS track, trace and protect, Welsh Government Data Unit and Data Cymru. Recording can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbH1XoMeKAE
Communicating Digital Community of Practice - 39 in attendance
We ran a joint session with Natural Resources Wales, focussing on internal communications and bringing staff on the ‘agile’ journey! We raised the following key points:
👉🏻 Bring comms in at the earliest opportunity for biggest impact!
👉🏻 Mind your (agile) language - don’t dilute it so it’s inconsistent, but take the time to explain
👉🏻 Support people to work in the open - coach, demystify, allow time to get to grips with online collaboration tools!
Great to share the story so far and some great questions from the community including one around culture.

Supporting Delivery Teams
The Natural Resources Wales team held their third show and tell, a recording is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPnbnxETvvw&t=1885s. They’ve been busy blogging and recording video content (eagerly awaiting show and tell summary videos from Graham and Catrin) and we reviewed the comms plan for the next two weeks to keep momentum going. As part of their engagement they also ran a lunchtime masterclass which attracted 40 people on the topic of ‘the customer is always right’.

The Primary Care Pathfinder team held their first show and tell with almost 90 in attendance. There were lots of great questions for the team. We have been supporting them with messaging for GPs and patients and will work with them to develop a comms plan to support the project shortly.
Great conversation with influential Anne Marie Cunningham, DSPP, who we’ve roped into doing some videos for us as part of our activity.
