Welcome to our neuadd y dref / town hall

CDPS ran its first neuadd y dref/town hall meeting this week. The purpose is to get everyone working at CDPS together once a month to share important updates and to give the team an opportunity to discuss plans and ideas as a whole group.

Myra Hunt, our co-CEO, led a discussion about CDPS’s role and remit – looking at what we will and, as importantly, won’t focus on in 2022-23.

Edwina O’Hart, our head of comms, gave a presentation on changes to CDPS’s weeknotes (more info below). Darren McCormac, delivery community lead, ran an interactive session to find out what (what, so what and now what?) the team wanted to get from the meetings. Suggestions included:

Announcing... the new CDPS weeknotes

All teams in CDPS write weeknotes. They are then consolidated, edited and circulated to a distribution list of around 130 people. They demonstrate the breadth of work across CDPS.

We want to widen the reach of our weeknotes and give anyone who is interested the opportunity to receive them in a digestible, easy to scan format, with links to particular areas of interest (such as skills, delivery, standards or communications).

Communicating digital: rebrand for caring service

We welcomed Kieran Harris, chief executive of the not-for-profit The Care Collective to our Communicating Digital community of practice session in April. We tried something new this month and had a Q&A with Kieran instead of a formal presentation. Kieran talked us through his organisation’s recent rebrand and approach to developing services for unpaid carers across South Wales. There were 21 attendees from organisations such as Y Lab, WCVA, ProMo Cymru, DVLA, Monmouthshire Council and Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.

Catch up on what happened in the session on this Twitter thread:

Building bilingual services: open floor meeting

Meetings of the Building Bilingual Services community of practice take place every fortnight. The steering group met this week and decided to alternate between having a guest speaker on a specific topic and ‘open floor’ meetings.

We hope the open floor will encourage sharing of challenges, issues and good practice so we can better tap into the great experience and knowledge of the group.
