Learned

The power of promoting show and tells on external Slack channels

Longed for

Record breaking numbers for lunch and learn - Osian

Osian here - this week I ran a 30-minute lunch and learn session all about content design - ‘It’s not what you said, it’s how you said it’

I delivered the session in Welsh with a simultaneous translator.

We had 63 attendees, a record-breaking number for our lunch and learns so far. Organisations included Senedd Cymru, Welsh Government, Public Health Wales, Cardiff University, Transport for Wales and Welsh Revenue Authority.

We also published a resource on ways to improve your content.

Social media highlights

Hi, Gemma here… it’s been a busy week with a number of staff members attending events in both Cardiff and London. We as a comms team can’t be everywhere so part of our role involves equipping teams with the things they need to have a presence. This week I coordinated our visual presence and advised on taking photos and sharing with me to then share to CDPS profiles, including relevant hashtags. It was great to see those attending tagging us to reinforce the fact we work with others 😊

Jo was interviewed last week ahead of speaking at PublicTechnology Live and was featured in an article on user-centred design. We shared this with a quote from the article which was re-shared by Heledd. I really want to encourage others to comment on our posts with their thoughts as it creates a sense of community and also gives us other ideas or viewpoints to share with the CDPS team. Having more thought-piece snippets to share is on my radar. If you have tips or ideas on getting others to share content, please let me know.

Website: The power of external Slack channels for increasing engagement at show and tells

This week the website team held our interactive show and tell. We collected detailed feedback on our new homepage from externals including local authorities, Wales Council for Voluntary Action, NHS and Welsh Revenue Authority and staff at CDPS.
