Sprint planning and retro – Josh P

Hi pawb 🙂 This week’s SP&R marks the first in our trial of a new format, switching from 2-week to 3-week sprint intervals. The team had reflected that this could help us more strategically plan our time so that we can reduce the number of tasks that roll over each sprint.

Our reflections: we celebrated the launch of the AI and Automation Community of Practice, our first day of filming content for the Annual Review, and a real boost in the engagement we are seeing on socials just to name a few success stories. The team have also been collaborating more internally and externally in-person which has been great for both our productivity and our wellbeing.

In terms of growth areas, we’d like to see more external attendees joining our show and tells; we had a lower attendance at the recent Design System update, and will be thinking about how we can improve this. We’ve also reflected on lead times for our translators how we can support them with their workload, and communicating guidance internally and provide tools to support our translators with requests.

Looking ahead, our main focus will be preparing the Annual Review for publication and promotion. Alongside this, the team have invited CDPS colleagues to a retro feeding into a new look for our CDPS Weeknotes this year. We’ll also be promoting and hosting our next series of Lunch and Learns exploring the theme ‘What does good look like’. Our first instalment kicks-off with Tracy Bell at Swansea Bay University Health Board at 1pm 13 May. You can find out more about this event, the lunch and learn series, and register to attend here.

We’ll also continue planning for an event in July where we will be bringing all of our Communities of Practice together for an opportunity to collaborate in Cardiff. Check out Mike’s events video summary below - and keep your eyes peeled for more updates! You can find out more about the communities we’re supporting on our website.

Annual review comms – Alaw

Shwmae, shwmae!

This week I’ve been busy preparing a plan to promote our long-awaited annual review on social media. As you can imagine, it’s not the most catchy of titles, so I’m trying to be as creative with this promotion as I possibly can!

Whilst promoting our Trio Writing book, I learnt a very important lesson. It was simple, people trust people.

It’s great that CDPS have a good following on social media, and I will most definitely be promoting our annual review often from our accounts, however our audience want to hear from real people. Those people are you.

As a result, I’ve put together a list of names alongside their projects, with possible questions I could ask to help make creating a LinkedIn post as easy as possible.

So, please do expect to hear from me in the coming weeks or, if you have any ideas on what you could post or CDPS for that matter, please do let me know 🙂
